The study of medicine at the Riga Stradins University starts in both the summer and winter semester and the duration is six years. The language of instruction is English. As the university awards over 600 places, and a large proportion of these to international students, the chances of getting a place are good.

What requirements do you need to study medicine in Latvia?

The basic requirement for studying medicine in Latvia is a high school diploma or equivalent. The universities place great emphasis on good performance in the natural sciences.

As the lessons are held in English, sufficient language skills are required. You need at least a grade 2 in English and a language certificate at language level B2 or better.
